Science Bar: “Can Neuroscience Help Education?”
This event has already taken place!
Live on the UM YouTube channel.
Thanks to advances in neuroscience, it is now easier to analyze how the brain works and how we process and store information. Among other things, these advances make it possible to refine learning methods tailored to children, with the goal of helping students succeed in school.
But neuropedagogy raises many questions among teachers and parents, including:
- What is the actual contribution of neuroscience to education?
- Does cognitive science provide teachers with the tools they need to adapt their teaching practices so that every student can take control of their learning and achieve success?
- How can we reconcile insights from neuroscience with the diversity of learning styles?
To discuss this topic, this Science Bar brings together three speakers:
- Gina Devau, Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Montpellier. President of La Comédie des neurones.
- Bénédicte Gendron, Ph.D. in Psychology and Neuropsychology, Professor of Education at Paul Valéry University.
- Nicolas Saby, Ph.D. in Mathematics, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Montpellier, and Director of the Department of Science Education and Educational Research.
