Since the 60s and the race for the stars between the USSR and the USA, technologies have improved considerably. From being a primarily ideological issue, the conquest of space has become a scientific, economic and geopolitical one.

Today, a growing proportion of human activity (Internet, communications, geolocation, meteorology, robotics, etc.) is linked to inventions resulting from space exploration since the 1960s. Space innovation is a powerful lever for development, irrigating numerous economic sectors.

Long the preserve of the world's greatest powers, private players are now vying for the cosmos. Between low-cost rockets, space tourism and huge projects, space has become the Eldorado of the private sector, and the conquest of space continues to grow.

Four multidisciplinary experts will be on hand to answer questions from the live audience:

  • Jean-Louis Fellous, member of the Van Allen Foundation, former director of the Committee on Space Research(COSpAR).
  • Georges-Emmanuel Gleize, PhD student in Space History at Toulouse 2 - Jean Jaurès University / FRAMESPA Laboratory.
  • Stéphanie Lizy-Destrez, Associate Professor of Space Systems Engineering, head of the Space Systems section of the Master of Science program at the Institut Supérieur de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (ISAE - SUPEAERO).
  • Denis Puy, Director of the Montpellier Universe and Particles Laboratory (LUPM).
