The definition of masculinity varies across different eras, cultures, and social contexts. Nevertheless, masculinity has always been a cultural measure of a man’s worth and represents a set of qualities—such as resolve, courage, power, strength, and vigor—attributed to adult men.

At a time when the boundaries between masculinity and femininity are becoming blurred, the meaning of masculinity is being widely questioned: how should we conceive of and experience it today, while considering the interplay between the natural and the cultural?

To discuss this science and society topic, a panel of multidisciplinary experts will answer questions from the audience live:

  • Françoise Paris, university professor, hospital physician at Montpellier University Hospital, Department of Pediatric Endocrinology – Department of Molecular Biology of Genital Developmental Variations (DevGen), director of the INSERM research unit – DEFE (Embryonic Development, Fertility, and Environment);
  • Marion Polge, associate professor at Montpellier Management (University of Montpellier) and director of CoCréa’ (Chair for Studies and Research on Human-Centered Issues in Business—a foundation of the University of Montpellier);
  • Maxime Potard, an artist and writer whose work explores the concept of masculinity.
