The definition of masculinity varies across different eras, cultures, and social contexts. Nevertheless, masculinity is always, culturally speaking, what defines a man’s worth and represents a set of qualities—such as steadfastness, courage, power, strength, and vigor—attributed to adult men.

At a time when the boundaries between masculinity and femininity are becoming blurred, the meaning of masculinity is being widely questioned: how can we conceive of and experience it today while considering the interplay between the natural and the cultural?

To discuss this science and society topic, a diverse group of experts from various disciplines will answer questions from the audience live:

  • Françoise Paris, university professor, hospital physician at the Montpellier University Hospital, Department of Pediatric Endocrinology—Department of Molecular Biology of Genital Developmental Variations (DevGen), director of the INSERM research unit—DEFE (Embryonic Development, Fertility, and Environment);
  • Marion Polge, associate professor at Montpellier Management (University of Montpellier) and director of CoCréa’ (Chair for Studies and Research on Human-Centered Issues in Business—a foundation of the University of Montpellier);
  • Maxime Potard, an artist and writer whose work explores the concept of masculinity.
