Jointhe editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo, the University of Montpellier, and Génération Charlie for a discussion with the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo on March 27, 2025, starting at 6:00 p.m.

On January 7, 2015, a terrorist attack was carried out against the editorial offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, thereby targeting freedom of expression.

Ten years later, while 76% of French people consider freedom of expression to be a fundamental right, one-third of young people under the age of 35 believe that one cannot say or caricature just anything under its guise (Jean-Jaurès Foundation/IFOP poll). Because freedom of expression is a pillar of our democracy and to discuss it, we felt it was important to host the Génération Charlie association, which is organizing a series of conferences in high schools and universities to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the January 7, 2015, attack.

This event will provide students and staff at the University of Montpellier with an opportunity to discuss the values and legacy of Charlie Hebdo with the magazine’s editorial team.

Access to the conference room will be granted starting at 5:15 p.m. and requires that you register by March 24 at the latest. You must present proof of registration upon arrival, along with a valid ID. If you do not present a valid ID, you will be denied access.
