This conference aims to address the challenges faced by agricultural businesses. It brings together Private Law Laboratory at the University of Montpellier, the Labex Entreprendre and the University of Montpellier.
The agricultural sector has many unique characteristics, particularly regarding the time required to complete an animal or plant life cycle, as well as the structure of its debt. Consequently, lawmakers and legal practitioners have had to adapt the law governing businesses in financial distress to accommodate these specific features.

A brand-new and crucial topic

The rules governing agricultural businesses in financial distress remain largely unknown to academics, legal professionals, and even those within the agricultural sector itself. To date, no comprehensive academic study has been conducted in this field since 1994. Only a few practitioners are truly specialized in this area. The agricultural community is virtually unaware of the existence of preventive procedures.
By filling this gap, this conference thus addresses a genuine need and brings the issue of difficulties faced by agricultural businesses to the forefront.
