Competition open to all University of Montpellier students preparing a national diploma (DUT, Licence, Master, Doctorat etc...).

Competition presentation

The Service Communitaire Universitaire d'Information, d'Orientation et d'Insertion Professionnelle (SCUIO-IP) of the University of Montpellier is organizing the 13th edition of the 5 minutes to convince competition, which rewards the best presentation of a professional project in front of a jury drawn from the socio-economic world and higher education.

Students can choose from three categories to compete:

  • Category A: Presentation of professional project as part of an application (internship or job search, further studies, international mobility, etc.);
  • Category B: Presentation of professional project in the context of setting up or taking over a business (company, association, etc.);
  • Category C: Doctoral student special: Presentation of a doctoral student's professional project in the context of an application (post-doc, doctoral contract, collaborative contract, post-doctoral employment, etc.) or the creation or takeover of an activity (company, association, etc.).

Registration and preselection

Application deadline: January 15, 2024 at the latest.

Your file must include the following information:

  • Choice of category (A, B or C) ;
  • Title of professional project ;
  • Project summary in ten lines (300 words maximum)*.

Your written presentation must :

  • Be well-written and well-structured: respect the specified length, take care with style, be punchy.
  • Clearly state your professional objective and the means to achieve it.
  • Indicate the position or function you would like to occupy: the activities you will be taking on, and the skills you will need.
  • Highlight your motivation: explain how this project came about, how it relates to your career, what motivates you to carry it out, the values that "drive" you, and the sector of activity you've chosen.

Be clear and punchy to win over the pre-selection jury!

The prize: 3 laptops and personalized project support!

Selection for the semi-finals: pre-selected projects will be presented in 5 minutes to a panel of judges. A presentation aid is mandatory (Powerpoint, Prezi).

Competition preparation workshop

"Master the art of the Pitch" - Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm.

This training course introduces you to the fundamentals of oral communication and a methodology for preparing and presenting a pitch that is tonic, effective and convincing. Distance learning.

Objectives: Stimulate creativity and leave room for originality

  • Combining scientific presentation and amazement
  • Use all techniques and media to build your Pitch
  • Surprise and astonish through listening
  • Interacting with the public
  • Practice being synthetic, concise and precise
  • Develop verbal, non-verbal and visual communication skills
  • Be able to prepare, conduct and conclude a pitch
