For over 1,000 years, from 2500 to 1200 BC, from the Fifth Dynasty to the Twentieth, the Egyptians sent maritime expeditions to the land of Punt to procure spices, particularly myrrh (Commiphora myrrha). For what purpose? And, above all, where is this region that Egyptologists struggle to locate on a map?
