"But why teach literature in elementary school?"
For two centuries, children's literature, whether "children's" or not, has been rich in masterpieces. It constitutes a universe where themes, characters, situations and images never cease to respond to each other. This imaginary world complements the real world, helping us to understand it better.
But in the digital and multimedia age, when there's so much knowledge to be acquired, skills to be built and aptitudes to be developed, why do we need to get children to read even more? What's the point today?
This conference is aimed at the general public. It will focus on the challenges facing literature teaching today, and show what happens in the literature classroom.

UM Thursdays": a new lecture series

The University of Montpellier, with its eight Faculties, two Schools and 6 Institutes, is bursting at the seams with teachers and researchers in a wide variety of fields. It wanted to highlight them and make them accessible to as many people as possible by offering a new cycle of lectures at the rate of one appointment per month from October 2017 to May 2018.
