Montpellier School of Medicine – Anatomy Lecture Hall
Free admission

A lecture led by Dr. Claire Daien, a rheumatologist, and Dr. Ariane Sultan, an endocrinologist.
The development of inflammatory rheumatic diseases is attributed to a combination of genetic susceptibility and environmental factors. However, the exact causes of inflammatory rheumatic diseases have yet to be determined.
Numerous studies have demonstrated the importance of diet in human biological functions. The role of diet in inflammatory rheumatic diseases is often discussed but remains highly controversial.
This public lecture will be hosted by:
- Claire Daien, M.D., Ph.D., and attending physician in rheumatology at Montpellier University Hospital;
- Ariane Sultan, M.D., Ph.D., hospital physician and university professor of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Nutrition
Its purpose is to:
- explain the mechanisms by which diet can influence the immune system and, therefore, theoretically, inflammatory rheumatic diseases;
- to present the available data in humans on the impact of diet on inflammatory rheumatic diseases.
It includes a discussion of the limitations of current dietary studies and recommendations for patients with inflammatory rheumatism.
