Claire Daien and Ariane Sultan

Conference led by Dr. Claire Daien, rheumatologist, and Dr. Ariane Sultan, endocrinologist.
The development of inflammatory rheumatism can be explained by a combination of genetic susceptibility and environmental factors. However, the exact causes of inflammatory rheumatism remain to be determined.
Numerous studies have demonstrated the importance of diet in human biological functions. The effect of diet on inflammatory rheumatism is often discussed but remains highly controversial.
This public lecture will be hosted by:

  • Claire Daien, Doctor of Medicine and Science, university hospital practitioner in Rheumatology at Montpellier University Hospital;
  • Ariane Sultan, Doctor of Medicine and Science, hospital practitioner and university professor in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Nutrition

It aims to:

  • explain the mechanisms by which diet can modulate the immune system and therefore, theoretically, inflammatory rheumatism;
  • present available data on the impact of diet on inflammatory rheumatism in humans.

It includes a discussion of the limitations of studies and dietary recommendations that can currently be given to patients with inflammatory rheumatism.
