Biotrace Conference: "Microbiotechnologies, tools at the crossroads of science"

  • Category:
  • Dates: February 10–11, 2021
  • Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Location:

Given the current situation, this conference will take the form of a webinar, accessible to everyone via the Clickmeeting platform.

Microbiotechnology refers to the application of microtechnology in the biological field.  Microtechnology encompasses all microtechniques, which are manufacturing techniques at the sub-millimeter scale (i.e., in the micrometer range and below), including planar manufacturing technologies in microelectronics and micro-machining techniques used in the manufacture of microsystems.

The aim of this 16th edition is to address the concept of "Microbiotechnologies" in three different areas: health, agri-food, and the environment.

In addressing these three themes, we will present innovations that enable humans to protect their health, with the detection of SARS Cov-2, for example, their diet, with a particular focus on the relationship between the nature of food and human health, and to preserve and enhance their environment.

Each of these topics will be addressed through half-day conferences held by various guest speakers.

To close the conference, an afternoon will be devoted to a session entitled "Scientific Reflection and Communication." This part will feature presentations by several speakers who will explain, in the simplest possible terms and for a general audience, the scientific approach that has enabled society to make such progress. It will also address current topics that illustrate the place of science in society.

Following the dedicated conferences, a round table discussion will be held on the topic of "COVID-19 vaccination and its effectiveness against variants."

This conference will therefore take place over two days, or four half-days, and will address the following topics:

  • "Innovation in microbiotechnology for medical therapy and diagnosis";
  • "The relationship between the nature of food and human health";
  • "Preservation and Enhancement of the Environment";
  • "Scientific Reflection and Communication."
