Biotrace Conference: “Microbiotechnology: Tools at the Crossroads of Science”
This event has already taken place!
Given the current situation, this conference will be held as a webinar, accessible to everyone via the Clickmeeting platform.
"Microbiotechnology" refers to the application of microtechnology in the biological field. Microtechnology encompasses all microtechnologies, which are manufacturing techniques at the sub-millimeter scale (i.e., in the micrometer range and below), including planar fabrication technologies in microelectronics and micro-machining techniques used in the manufacture of microsystems.
The goal of this 16th edition is to explore the concept of “microbiotechnology” in three different fields: healthcare, the agri-food industry, and the environment.
By addressing these three themes, we will present innovations that enable people to protect their health—such as the detection of SARS-CoV-2—their diet, with a particular focus on the relationship between food and human health, and to preserve and revitalize their environment.
Each of these topics will be addressed through presentations given by various guest speakers and will be covered over the course of a half-day.
To conclude the conference, an afternoon will be devoted to a session titled “Scientific Reflection and Communication.” Through presentations by several speakers, this session will explain—in the simplest terms possible and for a general audience—the scientific approach that has enabled society to make the progress it has achieved. It will also address current topics that help illustrate the role of science in society.
Following the specialized presentations, there will be a panel discussion on the topic “COVID-19 Vaccination and Its Effectiveness Against Variants.”
The conference will take place over two days—four half-days—and will cover the following topics:
- “Innovations in microbiotechnology for medical therapy and diagnosis”;
- “The Relationship Between Food and Human Health”;
- “Environmental Preservation and Enhancement”;
- "Scientific Reflection and Communication."
