In early 2018, the Atger Museum’s collection of drawings was expanded with a donation of seventy-seven drawings by Colette Richarme (1904–1991), following an initial donation of four drawings by the artist’s family in 2005, as part of the exhibition “Jeux de figures.” This significant new donation was made possible by the inventory work carried out by the studio since Richarme’s death, which was continued and completed by the Richarme Association.
Colette Richarme is now the most represented artist at the Atger Museum: eighty-one drawings on a variety of themes, including nudes, figures, portraits, and landscapes.
These drawings have been cataloged, stamped, packaged, and digitized by the BIU’s Department of Written and Graphic Heritage. To celebrate this donation, the Department of Written and Graphic Heritage and the University of Montpellier are organizing an exhibition in the fourth quarter of 2018.
In addition to the drawings, the exhibition will also feature several of Richarme’s paintings and some of his tools (on loan from his family for the duration of the exhibition).
Special opening hours all day on September 15 and 16 (European Heritage Days) and on Saturdays, October 20 and November 24, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (to coincide with changes to the exhibition layout).
