Like the scientist, whose study of extinct specimens is inseparable from the graphic representation that reconstructs them, Rosa Mourlam set out to illustrate the inhabitants who populated south-west France over 20 million years ago, long before the appearance of man.

"At that time, Europe was populated by strange animals, large and small, adorable or frightening, cousins of groups that are familiar to us today, or extinct without leaving descendants. With an artistic and scientific vision, come and discover these animals of the past and their environment.
