NounOURS Exhibition – Peluchology

An updated version by the team of mediators from the Peluchologie project. The exhibition invites young and old alike to immerse themselves in the world of teddy bears through a scientific and historical lens.

Organized by the Émile Zola Media Library, as part of the partnership between Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole (3M) and the University of Montpellier, certified Science with and for Society (SAPS).

An exhibition that offers a glimpse into the imagination of bears 

The bear is a mythical animal that humans have always considered very important. The subject of legends, feared or adored, praised or demonized, the bear is symbolically deeply rooted in our Western societies.

Designed by the University's scientific culture department, this traveling exhibition pays tribute to the former king of animals, from prehistory to the teddy bear. It is structured around three themes:

• Bears in the wild: a selection of objects and osteological specimens showcasing the great diversity of bears past and present.
• Bears in literature: a rich collection of works exploring the different representations of thisanimal in Western culture (children's books, novels, comics, classic texts, etc.);
• Teddy bears: a collection of teddy bears of all shapes and colors to learn about the scientific process of classification and becomea teddy bear expert.
