  • Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
  • Location:

The European Erasmus+ capacity-building project GECKO (2017-2021) aims to improve engineering education in three partner countries: Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, through the exchange of best practices and improved regional cooperation.

The overall objective of the project is to improve the employability of engineering students by introducing innovative courses that meet the growing needs of the labor market in terms of multi-skilling.

The GECKO Challenge is a five-day virtual summer school during which teams of engineering students from eight partner universities in Southeast Asiawill have the opportunity to compete in an international environment to conceptualize an innovative engineering solution in response to a challenge related to the Sustainable Development Goals, thereby applying the knowledge acquired through the training modules developed as part of the GECKO project.

Three virtual events will be open to the public, during which each team will be introduced, provide an update on the progress of their work, and finally present their innovation project in a pitch competition before a panel of judges. Speakers from the business world will also be invited to give inspirational talks to participants.

  1. The opening program will take place on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  2. The second mid-term meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
  3. Finally, the closing ceremony and awards presentation will take place on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • These three events, conducted entirely in English, will take place via Zoom and will also be livestreamed on Facebook.
