GECKO is hosting its Summer School from June 28 to July 2, 2021
This event has already taken place!
The European Erasmus+ capacity-building project GECKO (2017–2021) aims to improve engineering education in three partner countries—Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines—through the exchange of best practices and enhanced regional cooperation.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the employability of engineering students by introducing innovative courses that address the labor market’s growing demand for multi-skilled professionals.
The “GECKO Challenge” is a five-day virtual summer school during which teams of engineering students from the eight partner universities in Southwill have the opportunity to compete in an international setting to design an innovative engineering solution in response to a challenge related to the Sustainable Development Goals, thereby applying the knowledge gained through the training modules developed as part of the GECKO project.
Three virtual events will be open to the public, during which each team will be introduced, provide an update on the progress of their work, and finally present their innovation project in a pitch competition before a panel of judges. Speakers from the business world will also be invited to give inspiring talks to the participants.
- The opening ceremony will take place on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- The second mid-term meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
- Finally, the closing ceremony and awards ceremony will take place on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- These three events, conducted entirely in English, will take place via Zoom and will also be streamed live on Facebook.
