“iTALKs”: theUM Student Public Speaking Contest
This event has already taken place!
TheUM public speaking contest is iTALKs!
Sixteen of them will take the stage to present the results of their work and share their perspectives on today’s world in five minutes.
Who?UM studentsUM participated in the iTALKs public speaking workshop, led by Anne-Sophie Leyre, an actress and instructor with the Compagnie de l’Astrolabe, and Sarah Fourage, a playwright and writer.
Theater workshops and writing classes prepared them to take the stage for this public speaking contest. There, they learned how to construct a narrative, project their voices, control their body language, and—most importantly—manage their nerves!
To each their own style: poetic, socially conscious, or offbeat—they’re now ready to share their journeys, their questions, or their passions.
At the end of the evening, three prizes will be awarded:
- the Grand Jury Prize;
- the jury's favorite;
- the People's Choice Award.
A festive evening that proves that (the much-dreaded) public speaking can actually be enjoyable.
Light refreshments will be served during the intermission, and the event will conclude with a time for socializing.
Registration deadline: Friday, March 27

iTALKs is an event funded by the CVEC (Student and Campus Life Contribution) and organized by theUM Student Life Office.
