“The financial health of Occitanie's departments at budget voting time”

Perspectives from the Occitanie Regional Chamber of Accounts, the University of Montpellier, and INSEE Occitanie.

The University of Montpellier and the Occitanie Regional Chamber of Accounts are hosting a new joint event as part of the partnership that has united them since July 3, 2024.  This round table discussion, aimed at students at the University of Montpellier as well as the general public (free, upon registration), is being organized at the Faculty of Law and Political Science in Montpellier, based on the CRC Occitanie's regional thematic report on "The financial situation of the departments in the Occitanie region."

After Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, opens the event, Valérie Renet, President of the Occitanie Regional Chamber of Accounts, Alexandre Gautier, Director of INSEE Occitanie, and Nicolas Marty, Vice-President of the University of Montpellier and Director of the Institute for Preparation for General Administration (IPAG), will speak. The debates will focus on the departments' sensitivity to the economic climate, their financing model, social spending, and their mandatory, shared, and optional powers.
