"Climate goals seem to have lost some of their appeal, at least in political discourse. Yet every year we feel the consequences of climate change more acutely, and the recurring energy crises make us bitterly regret our dependence on fossil fuels."

Solutions do exist, but only economists seem to believe in them. They don’t need to be invented, but the public debate lacks the clarity and rigor needed to discuss them rationally and put them into practice.

"This conference is a first step in that direction."

— Aude Pommeret

Aude Pommeret is a professor of economics at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc and a scientific advisor to the High Commission for Strategy and Planning. Her research focuses in particular on how uncertainty influences economic decisions, especially in the fields of energy and climate change.

In 2023, she coordinated the thematic report on “Sobriety” for France Stratégie, which was produced as part of the work focused on Economic Impacts of Climate Action. This report examines the role of frugality in the transition to carbon neutrality, public policies that could encourage it, and its effects on growth and well-being.
