For students and staff of the University of Montpellier, as part of the European UNI-ECO project.

This call for projects is part of the European UNI-ECO project.

The UNI-ECO project is a "Strategic Partnership" co-financed by the European Commission's Erasmus+ program. It is an initiative led by the University of Montpellier in partnership with the University of Barcelona, the University of Utrecht, the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest and Trinity College Dublin (all members of the CHARM-EU alliance), as well as the UNIMED university network and the NGO CESIE.

This project aims to raise awareness of sustainable development and encourage cooperation and action by all university campus users (students, academic and non-academic staff) towards a sustainable campus.

During the first phase of the project, an "inventory of sustainable development in higher education institutions" was carried out. Analysis of the results of this study in the partner institutions, which included university self-assessments and surveys of students and staff, enabled priority areas for action to be identified and common "green challenges" to be defined, which form the core of this call for projects.

The partner universities involved in the European UNI-ECO project are simultaneously launching a call for "Green Challenges 2021" projects for their students and staff.

What is a "green challenge"? It's a challenge to campus users to develop projects to improve sustainability on their university campus, with a view to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.

This year's themes are as follows:

  • Practices that will bring the university closer to "Zero Waste";
  • Reducing the carbon footprint of university transport;
  • Actions to strengthen and enhance biodiversity ;
  • Reducing the ecological footprint of university catering.

Are you studying or working at the University of Montpellier and would like to help build the sustainable university of tomorrow? Then join us and take action for a greener campus!

Put together a team of 2 to 5 people and submit your project online on the UNI-ECO platform. You can also join an incomplete team to share your skills and increase your chances of winning.

Selected projects will be supported in their formalization, and will be eligible for funding of up to €1,000 per project. A winning team will be selected and given the opportunity to present their project to an international community at the UNI-ECO Summer School, providing a unique opportunity for international networking.

The call for projects is open from March 15 to April 4, 2021. So choose a challenge now and submit your vision of a sustainable campus!
