Launch of “Street science, greener cities!”
This event has passed!
The University of Montpellier is offering a new scientific walk to visit, play, and learn on May 24, 2023, with the launch of the exhibition "Street science makes the city greener!"
The exhibition from May 24, 2023, to October 19, 2023
Street science, greener cities! is a scientific walk that tackles a crucial issue of our time: greening cities. It invites participants to discover the challenges and benefits of greener cities for well-being, health, urban biodiversity, combating heat islands, water management, and urban agriculture.
It also prompts reflection on the choices that must be made in terms of the species used, so that a greener city does not become a city where allergies and vector-borne infectious diseases are more common. This scientific journey full of surprises is open to all and freely available within the Montpellier Botanical Garden.
This exhibition allows all audiences to:
- visit the Montpellier botanical garden;
- play by searching for signs and images that will reveal their secrets in augmented reality using a smartphone and the Street Science app;
- Learn about the challenges of urban greening: why is it important to build a greener city for tomorrow? What are the key points to consider when greening a city?
