Launch of “Street science, greener cities!”

The University of Montpellier is offering a new scientific walk to visit, play, and learn on May 24, 2023, with the launch of the exhibition "Street science makes the city greener!"

Street science, greener cities! is a scientific walk that tackles a crucial issue of our time: greening cities. It invites participants to discover the challenges and benefits of greener cities for well-being, health, urban biodiversity, combating heat islands, water management, and urban agriculture.

It also prompts reflection on the choices that must be made in terms of the species used, so that a greener city does not become a city where allergies and vector-borne infectious diseases are more common. This scientific journey full of surprises is open to all and freely available within the Montpellier Botanical Garden.

This exhibition allows all audiences to:

• visit the Montpellier botanical garden;
• play by searching for signs and images that will reveal their secrets in augmented reality using a smartphone and the Street Science app;
• Learn about the challenges of urban greening: why is it important to build a greener city for tomorrow? What are the key points to consider when greening a city?
