In this session, three Institut Pasteur researchers will present their career paths and the various initiatives they have undertaken in the course of their careers.

Cyrine Bouabid is a biologist who became interested in the humanities and social sciences during her PhD. She is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institut Pasteur de Madagascar, and co-coordinator of the Alliance SHS Afrique project. She co-created the SHS network of the Pasteur Network of African institutes.

Meriem Belghith is an immunologist at the Institut Pasteur in Tunis, and coordinates the Tunis Science Boutique.

François Bontems is a structural biology researcher interested in the relationship between science and society, and how science fiction can be used to explore this relationship.
In this session, he will present the Alliance SHS Afrique project, which aims to use the human and social sciences to improve response capacity to epidemic crises. This project has resulted in a MOOC on the social dimensions of epidemics and toolkits for training in qualitative approaches. Recent developments in the relationship between science and society will be explored, and avenues for reflection raised, as will the contribution of science fiction to fostering a science-society dialogue.

Events organized as part of the Institut ExposUM, with support from MSH-SUD.
