At a time when abortion rights are being challenged in certain US states, Poland, and Hungary, and when France's Senate has voted in favor of a bill to enshrine abortion rights in the constitution, the screening of the film L'événement (The Event) will serve as a reminder of what many women experienced before abortion was legalized.
France, 1963. Anne, a promising student, becomes pregnant. She decides to have an abortion, ready to do anything to take control of her body and her future. She embarks alone on a race against time, braving the law. Exams are approaching, her belly is growing.
