At a time when the right to abortion is being challenged in certain U.S. states, as well as in Poland and Hungary, and when, in France, a bill to enshrine the right to abortion in the constitution has been passed by the Senate, the screening of the film *L’événement* will serve as an opportunity to recall what many women went through before it was legalized. *

* France, 1963. Anne, a promising student, becomes pregnant. She decides to have an abortion, willing to do anything to take control of her body and her future. She embarks alone on a race against time, defying the law. Exams are approaching, and her belly is growing.
