The University of Montpellier Launches Its “Equality Award”

As part of its policy promoting gender equality and combating discrimination, the University of Montpellier is establishing an “Equality Award.”

This award aims to recognize academic work that contributes to a better understanding of issues related to sex and gender and/or gender equality.

The Equality Award has two categories:

  • student category,
  • Ph.D. students category.

It recognizes work carried out as part of academic studies or research at the University of Montpellier, regardless of its format or discipline: course papers, internship reports, master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, or any other scientific publication or work in which these issues are addressed—even if they are not the main subject—excluding group projects.

Would you like to participate?

Participation is open to all students ( doctoral researchers) enrolled at the University of Montpellier during the 2025–2026 academic year who submit a project completed as part of their studies at the University of Montpellier during the 2024–2025 and/or 2025–2026 academic years.

Applications will be reviewed based on an abstract (maximum 3,500 characters) presenting an academic paper related to the themes of sex, gender, and/or gender equality. This abstract may outline the research question, the theoretical framework, the research methodology, a summary of the results and main conclusions, and any limitations and future directions.

The application must be submitted by the 1ster April 2026 via the “FileSender” upload platform, accessible through the digital campus portal, to the email address of the Quality of Life at Work department: .

The application must include:

  • the proposed assignment, named using the following format: assignment_name.pdf (example: dupont_assignment.pdf);
  • the completed application form, including the summary (student category / doctoral student category).

If the rules are not followed, the application will not be accepted.

Awards

In each category, the jury will select two winners:

  • 1st Prize: a tablet
  • 2nd Prize: a cultural gift certificate worth 100€
