To mark National Secularism Day, we are pleased to invite you to a mock trial on the question: “Should the 1905 law be amended?”

Two teams from the student organizations Les Tribuns and Lysias will face off in a mock trial, before a panel of local dignitaries, including the president of the Montpellier Administrative Court.

This project, developed with the scientific support of Mustapha Afroukh, an associate professor of public law, draws on academic expertise and the art of advocacy to examine the foundations and potential developments of the law on the separation of church and state.

Registration is required; space is limited

An event open exclusively to UM staff and students, presented as part of the 120th anniversary of the law separating church and state by Jean-Paul Udave, Secularism Coordinator at the University of Montpellier, and organized by the Office of Campus Life.
