Boy Erased" screening
Biographical drama by Joel Edgerton, 2018, running time: 115 min
Jared Eamons, son of a small-town Baptist minister, is forced by his parents to undergo conversion therapy after coming out as gay. Placed in a religious center supposed to "cure" young homosexuals, Jared is confronted with brutal methods and intense psychological pressure. The film traces his struggle to remain true to himself in the face of intolerance, while exploring family tensions and the devastation caused by conversion therapy.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with :
- Pamela Diane Alexi, conversion therapy survivor, author of the autobiographical novel Désobéir aux Dieux, film-maker and member of the "Rien à guérir" collective.
- Mattéo Garguilo, co-chairman of the ACT (Against Conversion Therapy) association, the driving force behind the European citizens' initiative "Ban on conversion practices in the European Union", which has gathered over a million signatures.
The university libraries will be present before and after the screening, with a thematic selection of books available to borrow.
The LGBT+ association Narval UM will also be manning an information stand at the same times.
A moment of conviviality will bring the evening to a close.
