Screening of “Boy Erased”
This event has passed!
Biographical drama by Joel Edgerton, 2018, running time: 115 min
Jared Eamons, the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, is forced by his parents to undergo conversion therapy after revealing his homosexuality. Placed in a religious center supposed to "cure" young homosexuals, Jared is confronted with brutal methods and intense psychological pressure. The film traces his struggle to remain true to himself in the face of intolerance, while exploring family tensions and the devastation caused by conversion therapy.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with:
– Pamela Diane Alexi, survivor of conversion therapy, author of the autobiographical novel Désobéir aux Dieux(Disobeying the Gods), director, and member of the collective “Rien à guérir” (Nothing to Cure).
– Mattéo Garguilo, co-president of the association “ACT (Against Conversion Therapy)”, which launched the European citizens’ initiative “Ban on conversion practices in the European Union”, which gathered more than one million signatures.
University libraries will be present before and after the screening, with a selection of books on the theme available for loan.
The LGBT+ association Narval UM will also have an information stand open during the same times.
A moment of conviviality will bring the evening to a close.
