What role does work play today?
This event has already taken place!

When surveyed in 1990, 92% of French people considered work to be “important in their lives.” Thirty-three years later, the picture is no longer so clear-cut: work has lost some of its luster, and the French are more willing to put their careers on the back burner.
Hybrid work, the search for meaning, a better work-life balance… The world of work has been undergoing profound change for several decades, and this shift has accelerated over the past two years amid an unprecedented health crisis.
To discuss this topic at the intersection of science and society, three multidisciplinary experts will answer questions from the audience live:
- Loïc Douyère – Associate Director – Florian Mantione Institute (Human Resources Consulting Firm);
- Marion Polge – Associate Professor, Assistant Director for Corporate Relations and Partnerships at Montpellier Management, Director of the Cocréa Chair (University of Montpellier);
- Amal Qobaa – Student Vice President at the University of Montpellier.
The Science Bar has become one of Montpellier’s premier events for scientific culture, offering a monthly participatory public discussion on all aspects of science from January through June. Throughout the season, scientists are invited to engage in a dialogue where their knowledge and practices are not only shared but also open to discussion.
The season is co-produced by the University of Marseille’s science communication departments and its partners: INRAE, INSERM, and IRD.
Practical information:
- Free admission, subject to availability.
- Sign language interpretation for this event is provided by Des’L Interprétation.
