Saltiques' gaze

The fear of spiders is often linked to a lack of knowledge and awareness. Among spiders, the jumping spider family (Salticidae) has a different appearance and behavior from most other spiders, which makes them particularly appealing. In France, there are 139 species of jumping spiders, which can be found in all environments, from your bedroom to mountain peaks, beaches, marshes, and more. They measure only a few millimeters, with the largest reaching one centimeter, and have many characteristics that make them unique. These spiders are therefore ideal ambassadors for raising awareness.

A naturalist since childhood, I have been traveling around France for four years to discover and photograph these fascinating and little-known spiders.
That is why this photo exhibition is an opportunity to share these findings and showcase the diversity of this spider family, but also to show that not all spiders resemble the clichés portrayed in popular culture.
This photo exhibition consists of 16 photographs with their respective captions, as well as an explanatory scientific poster.
This project is led by the Artio association, supported by GNaUM, and funded by FSDIE and the cultural department of the University of Montpellier.
