Science in pictures: life is beautiful!

  • Category: Exhibition
  • Dates : September 29 to October 31, 2023
  • Location: Montpellier Botanical Gardens

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the MRI (Montpellier Ressources Imagerie) academic imaging and cytometry platform is staging a unique exhibition of large-format microscopy photographs. It invites the public to discover the poetry of the world of the infinitely small, among the tall trees of the Jardin des plantes.

The world of life is beautiful, and the appeal of microscopy images extends far beyond the scientific community. The "Sciences en images : la vie est belle" exhibition features 40 large-format photos illustrating the work of some of the 800 scientists capturing images on the MRI platform's instruments.

Animal, vegetable, unicellular being? Chosen for their aesthetic qualities, they are as much a source of inspiration as they are a source of questioning. Each photo indicates its source and the goal pursued by scientists at the time of capture.

Art and science in symbiosis

Art and science both seek to reveal the invisible and the unknown. The photos on show illustrate that science is more than reason and rigor. Like art, they can provoke emotion and inspire dreams. This exhibition, a cross between art and science, aims to create new connivances between scientists and the general public.
