An Evening Discussion on Concussions in Sports

Master’s 2 students in the RAPA & GESAPPA track (Rehabilitation through Adapted Physical Activities & Health Management through Physical Activity for Older Adults) at the UFR STAPS in Montpellier are organizing an evening discussion on the topic of concussions in sports in the lead-up to Adapted Physical Activities Day (JAPA).
Distinguished guests will be in attendance at this evening's event:
- Marc JULIA: physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation; team physician for the French men’s rugby sevens team at the Rio Olympic Games; researcher affiliated with the Euromov laboratory; and consultant for the French Hospital Federation of Sports Medicine and Surgery;
- Martin DEVERGIE: professional rugby player for Montpellier Hérault Rugby and a member of the French Barbarians;
- Pierre MARTY GAUBERT: sports massage therapist and physical therapist for the French national karate team;
- Dr. Jean-Pierre GIORDANELLA: public health physician and patron of the 2017–2018 Master’s 2 class in Physical Activity for Health.
During this event, you’ll learn about or deepen your understanding of concussions, how they occur, and their consequences. The focus will be on high-risk sports, concussion protocols in sports, post-concussion care, and returning to the field.
You’ll have the opportunity to talk with the speakers. A professional rugby player will also share his experience.
