Action #1 I am Rosa Parks is the first part of a series of four shows entitled Action(s) and conceived by Fanny Rudelle and Vanessa Liautey.
"I am Rosa Parks..." Fanny Rudelle, white-skinned, born 20 years after the Montgomery bus incident, begins with these words.
She wears this symbol as a snub to history, as a way of saying that we can all fight against injustice and that it is not the prerogative of one people over another.
To discriminate is to separate. Today, we stand together in this fight against racial discrimination. She tells us how the shift took place, from anonymity to symbolism; what changed her forever and changed history, that famous night on the bus on Cleveland Avenue, December 1, 1955. "Every person should live their life as a model for others," Rosa Parks tells us. Being Rosa Parks is within the reach of us all.
