Action #1 I am Rosa Parks is the first part of a four-show cycle entitled Action(s) and imagined by Fanny Rudelle and Vanessa Liautey.
"I am Rosa Parks..." Fanny Rudelle, white by skin, born 20 years after the Montgomery bus event, begins with these words.
She wears this symbol as a nod to history, as a way of saying that we can all fight injustice, and that it's not the prerogative of one people over another.
To discriminate is to separate. Today, we are together in the fight against racial discrimination. She tells us how the shift is made, from anonymity to symbol; what changed her forever and changed history, that famous night on that Cleveland Avenue bus, December 1, 1955. "Every person should live their life as a model for others", Rosa Parks tells us. We can all be Rosa Parks.
