12 doctoral contracts, 6 multidisciplinary projects: the IDIL program’s 2025 thesis opportunities are now open

Applications for the IDIL Graduate Program at the University of Montpellier opened on April 8, 2025, and offer 12 doctoral positions across six multidisciplinary research projects. These “mirror projects” combine two distinct disciplinary research tracks within a single structure, providing a genuine platform for scientific and institutional innovation.

Each IDIL doctoral contract provides guaranteed funding for three years, ensuring that doctoral students have a stable environment and favorable conditions to conduct ambitious research. The program is built on a strong multidisciplinary foundation, encouraging the integration of diverse approaches, methods, and skills: research is conceived as a collaborative and open-ended endeavor.  Finally, doctoral students are part of a broad academic community that brings together the faculties, schools, and institutes of the University of Montpellier, as well as major national organizations such as the CNRS, CIRAD, and Inserm.

Each of these six projects is designed to facilitate collaborative work at the intersection of two academic disciplines. Among them:

  • VEBIOCOL: Development of a bio-based encapsulation vector for the controlled release of molecules in the colon.
  • POLLUNOCT: A study of the impact of anthropogenic light pollution on biological rhythms.
  • HAPTIMED: a digital twin of haptic perception, applied to healthcare and education.
  • OPTIMA: Optimization of RNA modifications for targeted gene expression and RNA-based therapies.
  • BIOREACH: Design of remotely accessible cellular bioelectronic systems for autonomous biomedical solutions.
  • CHIRARCHEOMS: A study of collagen chirality using mass spectrometry to investigate protein aging in archaeology.
