5 Minutes to Convince: A Contest to Recognize the Best Career Project Presentations by Students at the University of Montpellier

As part of the career integration events taking place from January 24 to 27, the Career Integration Support Office (SCUIO-IP) at the University of Montpellier is organizing the “5 Minutes to Convince” competition. The goal is to recognize students who deliver the best presentation of their career plans to a panel of experts from the socio-economic sector and higher education.

Also worth noting is a conference on entrepreneurship led by Pierre Alzingre, a specialist in startups and entrepreneurship, and Sonia Braun, a certified public accountant, on Thursday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m.

Win computers and project support

The “5 Minutes to Convince” competition givesUM students the opportunityUM present their projects to a panel of experts from the professional and academic worlds.

There are 3 categories in the competition:

  • the “career plans” category as part of a search for an internship or job, plans to continue your studies, or international mobility;
  • the “business start-up” category as part of a project to start a business, form an association, or take over a business;
  • "Ph.D. students" category as part of a postdoctoral application, a collaborative agreement, a job after completing a dissertation, etc.

After each presentation, the jury provides feedback to the candidates to help them improve their skills and oral presentation. The top prizes include a laptop and dedicated support provided by Hays (in the “career plan” category), CPME and PEPITE-LR (in the “business creation” category), and SATT AxLR (in the “doctoral students” category).

“The best way to find a job is to create one.” Alongside the competition finals on Thursday, January 27, Pierre Alzingre, a startup and entrepreneurship specialist, and Sonia Braun, a certified public accountant, will lead a conference on entrepreneurship in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, titled “The best way to find a job is to create one.” The session will provide insights into the skills, mindset, and strategies needed to avoid dependence on a complex and uncertain job market.
