At UM, science is back for a fourth season!
This is the program that brings you weekly updates on the latest news from the laboratories of the University of Montpellier and its partners. Co-produced with local radio station Divergence FM, A l'UM la science enchaine is now in its fourth season. The program always features a 20-minute interview with a researcher about a recent publication, a report on one of the many research platforms, and a focus on a scientific event for the general public. Hosted by Lucie Lecherbonnier and Aline Périault, the program is broadcast every Wednesday at 6 p.m. on Divergence and is available as a podcast on UM platforms every Thursday.

Every year, more than 6,000 scientific publications come out of the laboratories of the University of Montpellier and its partners. Every week, UM and local radio station Divergence FM invite you to discover one of these recently published publications, with explanations from its author(s). From economics to ecology, biology to robotics, law to chemistry, medicine, education sciences, and mechanics, researchers take turns on the air for a 20-minute interview aimed at the general public.
What is the ecological and social impact of mining transactions linked to the ecological transition? How can we improve the performance of Paralympic athletes or prevent burnout among French mayors? What types of food do students have access to, and how is the monkeypox virus transmitted? These are just some of the questions asked on the program A l’UM la science since it returned in September.
In the second part of the program, a five-minute report opens the doors to the many research platforms at the University of Montpellier and its partners. From the atomic force microscope to the marine station in Sète or the battery testing room at the Balard Chemistry Center, you will be surprised by the diversity of cutting-edge equipment available in the region.
Finally, the guest for the last three minutes extends the scientific experience by announcing an event open to the general public in Montpellier or the surrounding area.
A program prepared and hosted by Lucie Lecherbonnier and Aline Périault.
The program is broadcast weekly on Divergence FM on Wednesdays at 6 p.m., Thursdays at 12 p.m., and Saturdays at 6 p.m.
The programs are available as podcasts every Thursday on the Divergence FM website, the University of Montpellier website, and all podcast platforms.
