Alain Hoffmann, new director of the Faculty of Science

The Board of Directors of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Montpellier met on Wednesday, February 22, to elect its new director. Alain Hoffmann was elected by a majority vote.

University professor Alain Hoffmann teaches in the Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Automation (EEA) department and conducts his research at theInstitute of Electronics and Systems (IES)Currently deputy director of the faculty, he obtained 30 votes out of 35 (5 blank votes). He succeeds Adam A. Ali, Doctor of Science, current provisional administrator of the faculty, and Gilles Halbout, former director of the Faculty of Science, who was recently elected president of the COMUE.
Alain Hoffmann will take up his position on March 7, 2017.

The Faculty of Science at UM

The Faculty of Science is one of the components of the University of Montpellier (UM comprises 8 faculties, 6 institutes, and 2 schools).
It welcomes nearly 8,200 students each year. Its educational offerings cover all scientific fields, from fundamental sciences to applied sciences: mathematics, computer science, mechanics, electronics, physics, chemistry, earth sciences, biology, ecology, etc.
It draws on the expertise of the University of Montpellier's research laboratories, particularly those attached to the Faculty of Sciences, in collaboration with other French and foreign universities, local authorities, and major national research organizations.
