Call for proposals for collaborative educational activities (Charm-ED)
Do you have an innovative teaching idea or a new program that could benefit from collaboration within Charm-EU? Would you like to strengthen your European networks and integrate Charm-EU's educational principles (challenge-based learning, transdisciplinary approach, use of educational technologies, etc.) into your teaching practices? The Charm-ED call offers funding to support the development, improvement, or redesign of higher education and lifelong learning activities within theCharm-EU Alliance.
We invite transdisciplinary and interinstitutional teams to submit proposals aimed at collaborative innovation, co-creating content, integrating the Charm-EU pedagogical approach into educational experiences, and developing the skills Europe needs to tackle complex challenges, both local and global.

Scope of the appeal
The Charm-ED call aims to support collaborative and inter-institutional educational activities that contribute to the achievement of Charm-EU's strategic objectives and the integration of its educational principles into bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, as well as micro-certifications.
All proposals must clearly demonstrate their alignment with Charm-EU's educational vision and strategic objectives, as well as their potential to generate significant impact at the institutional and alliance levels.
The following activities will be prioritized, in line with the strategic needs of Charm-EU:
- development of short, cross-disciplinary educational content;
- Integration of Charm-EU educational principles into existing courses or co-creation;
- collaborative teaching activities between partner institutions;
- registration of modules in the Transnational Online Catalog (TOL);
- integration of innovative educational technologies;
- Implementation of educational activities with external stakeholders (companies, NGOs, etc.).

By participating in Charm-ED, you will benefit from:
- funding to develop or improve your educational activities;
- collaboration with colleagues from Charm-EU partner universities;
- cooperation with external stakeholders;
- a stronger alignment of your course with European policy priorities and skills agendas;
- support for integrating the educational vision of Charm-EU;
- recognition of your work within the Charm-EU network;
- support (1 to 4 hours) from the Charm-EU teaching team.
Funding
Amount available:
- per project: up to €5,000;
- implementation period: March 2026 – November 2026;
- Funding will be paid directly to staff via their home institution.
Eligibility criteria
Institutional eligibility:
- applications must involve collaboration between at least two Charm-EU partner universities;
- Non-member institutions or external stakeholders (e.g., companies, NGOs) may be involved, but cannot receive direct funding.
Candidate eligibility:
- open to academic and administrative/professional staff affiliated with Charm-EU institutions;
- Each proposal must include at least one academic staff member.
- Interdisciplinary teams are strongly encouraged.
- The involvement of external stakeholders is also strongly encouraged.
Evaluation and selection process
All eligible proposals will be reviewed by an interdisciplinary committee composed of Charm-EU staff members who are experts in the alliance's educational principles. The evaluation will be conducted transparently using a set of criteria.
The selection will be based on the following criteria:
- alignment with the educational principles of Charm-EU;
- contribution to European educational objectives;
- project feasibility;
- inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration;
- potential for innovation and impact;
- stakeholder involvement;
- cost-impact ratio
Follow-up and expected deliverables
Successful candidates will be required to:
- submit a short progress report for projects still in progress as of September1, 2026;
- submit a final report at the end of the project;
- share results and outputs for dissemination via the Charm-EU website and networks. Where relevant, funded projects are encouraged to disseminate their outputs as open educational resources (OER);
- Participate in at least one Charm-EU knowledge-sharing event (e.g., annual conference, educational "world café," etc.).
Calendar
- Call launch: December 18, 2025
- Deadline for submission of proposals: February 27, 2026
- Notification of results: March 13, 2026
- Start of funded activities: March 2026
- Submission of interim report: September1, 2026 (if the project is not yet complete)
- Final report submission: December 16, 2026, or at the end of the project
- Promotion and dissemination of results: to be confirmed (November 2026)
