Call for proposals for collaborative educational activities (CHARM-ED)
Do you have an idea for a pedagogical innovation or a new program that could benefit from collaboration within CHARM-EU? Would you like to strengthen your European networks and integrate CHARM-EU's educational principles (e.g., challenge-based learning, transdisciplinary approach, use of educational technologies) into your teaching practices?
The CHARM-ED call for proposals provides funding to support the development, improvement or redesign of higher education and lifelong learning activities within the CHARM-EU Alliance.
We invite trans-disciplinary and inter-institutional teams to submit proposals to innovate collaboratively, co-create content, integrate CHARM-EU's pedagogical approach into educational experiences, and develop the skills Europe needs to tackle complex local and global challenges.

Scope of call
The CHARM-ED call aims to support collaborative, inter-institutional educational activities that contribute to the achievement of CHARM-EU's strategic objectives and the integration of its pedagogical principles into bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs, as well as micro-certifications.
All proposals must clearly demonstrate their alignment with CHARM-EU's educational vision and strategic objectives, as well as their potential to generate significant impact at institutional and alliance levels.
The following activities will be given priority, in line with CHARM-EU's strategic needs:
- Development of cross-disciplinary teaching content
- Co-creation of modules or programs integrating CHARM-EU principles
- Collaborative teaching activities between partner institutions
- Integration of innovative educational technologies
- Building the skills needed to meet complex societal challenges

Financing
Amount available :
- Per project: between €1,000 and €5,000
- Implementation period: September 2025 - October 2026
- Funding will be paid directly to staff via their home institution
Eligibility criteria
Institutional eligibility :
- Applications must involve collaboration between at least two CHARM-EU partner universities.
- Non-member institutions or external stakeholders (e.g. companies, NGOs) can be involved, but cannot receive direct funding.
Candidate eligibility :
- Open to academic and administrative/professional staff affiliated with CHARM-EU institutions.
- Each proposal must include at least one member of the academic staff.
- Interdisciplinary teams are strongly encouraged.
- The involvement of external stakeholders is also strongly encouraged.
Evaluation and selection process
All eligible proposals will be examined by an interdisciplinary committee made up of CHARM-EU staff members who are experts in the alliance's pedagogical principles. The evaluation will be carried out in a transparent manner using a criteria grid.
Selection will be based on the following elements:
- Alignment with CHARM-EU pedagogical principles
- Contributing to European educational objectives
- Project feasibility
- Inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Potential for innovation and impact
- Stakeholder involvement
- Cost/impact ratio
Follow-up and deliverables
Successful candidates must :
- Submit a short progress report for projects ending between May and October 2026
- Submit a final report at the end of the project
- Share results and productions for dissemination via the CHARM-EU website and networks. Where relevant, funded projects are encouraged to disseminate their productions in the form of Open Educational Resources (OER).
- Participate in at least one CHARM-EU knowledge-sharing event (e.g. annual conference, educational "world café", etc.).

- Call launch: June 12, 2025
- Deadline for submission of proposals: September 26, 2025
- Notification of results: October 10, 2025
- Start of financed activities: October 2025
- Submission of interim report: May 22, 2026 (if project not yet completed)
- Submission of final report: October 16, 2026 or at the end of the project
- Promotion and dissemination of results: to be confirmed (November 2026)
