Christening of the "Louis EUZET," the new boat for the Mediterranean coastal environment station in Sète
On Friday, October 6, starting at 11 a.m., OREME and the University of Montpellier will inaugurate the second boat of the Mediterranean Coastal Environment Station (SMEL), named "Louis Euzet." This inauguration will take place in Sète in the presence of Philippe Augé, president of the University of Montpellier, Eric Servat, director of the OSU OREME at the University of Montpellier, and Sébastien Mas, director of the SMEL.
By invitation only
The acquisition of this boat had been a priority for OREME and SMEL for several years. The project became a necessity following an increase in requests received for local and national research projects and services. The characteristics of the Louis Euzet will enable the station to expand its scope of activities at sea.

The objectives of OREME
Affiliated with the University of Montpellier, the Montpellier Environmental Research Observatory (OREME) is dedicated to long-term observation of climate change and human activities in order to better understand their effects on the environment and the planet. OREME is particularly active at the Mediterranean Coastal Environment Station in Sète, which conducts studies at sea and on the Thau lagoon. Its researchers observe the effects of climate change on marine biodiversity, notably by monitoring species and conducting in situ experiments.
