Doctoral Degree Conferment Ceremony at the University of Montpellier
On Monday, June 26, 2023, the annual graduation ceremony honoring doctoral students from the University of Montpellier took place at the Corum in Montpellier. This event, a central part of the academic calendar, brought together all doctoral students in the Pasteur Auditorium before the traditional hat-tossing and the procession through the streets of Montpellier (from the Corum to the Arc de Triomphe).

Doors open at 3:00 p.m. with coffee and refreshments in the Pasteur Foyer.
The formal ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m., featuring speeches by officials, the presentation of interdisciplinary awards, and the ceremony by doctoral school, and will continue until 6:30 p.m.
After the graduation ceremony, the traditional tossing of caps took place on the plaza in front of the Corum. The procession of doctoral students then made its way to the Jardin des Plantes, passing through Place de la Comédie and the Arc de Triomphe.
At the end of the day, starting at 7:30 p.m., the exhibition “Portraits of PhD Students” gave visitors the opportunity to meet several young PhD candidates who successfully defended their dissertations during the 2021–2022 academic year. The exhibition will be open to the public in the presence of illustrator Elsa Gabet and photographer Gabriel Fradin.
