Why host an Innovation After-Work Event at UM?

The University of Montpellier ranks first among French universities in the global ranking of institutions making the greatest efforts to advance science, invent new technologies, and help drive the growth of the global economy (Reuters 2019 ranking). It is also one of five pilot universities in a University Innovation Cluster (PUI). The after-work event is an opportunityfor networking and discussion to highlight UM’s strategy for innovation and partnership, present its latest success stories, and discuss future challenges. It will feature the traditional Innovation Awards ceremony honoring researchers, as well as faculty members and Professors have distinguished themselves by developing innovative ideas that open up new economic, technological, or societal pathways.

Finally, this after-work event will provide an opportunity to meet with PUI experts to discuss key issues, such as “how to promote a project” and “what avenues for collaboration and partnerships are available,” as well as to offer guidance on starting a business.

The Innovation Awards at a Glance

The “University of Montpellier Innovation Awards,” launched in March 2019, aim to recognize researchers, Professors, faculty members, and staff from institutions and organizations within the I-SITE consortium who are at the forefront of particularly innovative initiatives and projects, especially in terms of their expected impact. A call for nominations is issued annually to all staff at UM and its I-SITE partners; nominations are evaluated by a jury composed of prominent figures from higher education, research, and the socio-economic sector.
