Why an Innovation afterwork at the UM?

The University of Montpellier is the leading French university in the world ranking of universities doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies and help support the progress of the global economy (Reuters ranking 2019). It is also one of the five pilot universities of a Pôle Universitaire d'Innovation (PUI). The afterwork is an opportunity tomeet and exchange ideas, to showcase the UM's innovation and partnership strategy, present its latest success stories and discuss future challenges. It will also be the occasion for the traditional Innovation Awards ceremony for researchers and teacher-researchers who have distinguished themselves by developing innovative ideas that open up new economic, technological or societal avenues.

Finally, the afterwork will provide an opportunity to arrange meetings with PUI experts on key issues such as "how to add value to a project", "what types of collaboration/partnership are possible", and to offer advice on business start-ups.

The Innovation Awards in a nutshell

The "University of Montpellier Innovation Awards", launched in March 2019, are designed to highlight researchers, teacher-researchers and staff from I-SITE consortium institutions and organizations who are at the heart of particularly innovative approaches and projects, particularly in terms of expected impacts. A call for applications is sent out each year to all staff at UM and its I-SITE partners, and these applications are evaluated by a jury made up of leading figures from higher education, research and the socio-economic world.
