Armand Soldera receives honorary doctorate from the University of Montpellier
Thursday, November 14, 2024, Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, will present the title of honorary doctor of the University of Montpellier to Armand Soldera, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Physical Chemistry at the University of Sherbrooke in Canada. The ceremony will take place in the the S. Peytavin Amphitheatre in Building 31 on the Triolet Campus starting at 5pm, in the presence of François Pierrot, vice-president of international relations, Lionel Torres, director of Polytech Montpellier and Éric Anglaret, director of international relations
of Polytech Montpellier.

Armand Soldera to receive honorary doctorate
Professor Armand Soldera is Dean of the Faculty of Science and Director of the Laboratory of Molecular Physics and Chemistry at the University of Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada). He specializes in the multi-scale simulation of complex "soft matter" systems. His first lecture, as Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Montpellier, will be entitled "From atom to material: a metaphor for human society".
What does the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" represent?
Created by decree on June 26, 1918, the origins of the honorary doctorate may date back to the 17th century. It is awarded to foreign personalities who highlight and reflect the values of the university through their contribution to the world of ideas, culture, the arts and sciences. Awarded at a solemn ceremony, this is the most eminent and prestigious academic title to be conferred by the university and scientific community.
