Camille" exhibition: art in medicine

At the initiative of the Montpellier Artistic Project (MAP) student health association, whose aim is to awaken the cultural interest of students at the University of Montpellier, the "Camille" installation by Sétois artist Sylvain Fraysse transforms the former dissection room of the Faculty of Medicine's historic building (1957-2017) into a monumental work of art, the "Camille" installation by Sétois artist Sylvain Fraysse transforms the former dissecting room of the Faculty of Medicine's historic building (1957-2017) into a monumental, ephemeral work of art, on the evocative theme of anatomy, illustrated by the scene of Camille in Jean-Luc Godard's film "Le Mépris".

The exhibition runs from March 22 to April 18, 2023. The opening took place on March 21 in the presence of the artist, Philippe Augé, President of the UM, Isabelle Laffont, Dean of the Montpellier-Nîmes Faculty of Medicine, Amal Qobaa, UM Student Vice-President, Patricia CARETTE, President of the Fonds régional d'art contemporain Occitanie Montpellier (Frac OM), and Amance LAGRANGE, President of the student association "Montpellier Artistic Project (MAP)".

The result of close collaboration with the Fonds régional d'art contemporain Occitanie Montpellier (Frac OM), MAP perpetuates the Faculty of Medicine's historic focus on art and humanism. The project has also given impetus to the renovation of this former dissecting room, whose 23 marble tables are listed as historic monuments. Opened to the general public for the first time with this exhibition, this room is destined to become a new exhibition room in the future museographic offering of the historic campus of the University of Montpellier's Faculty of Medicine.
