Mende: Inauguration of the new facilities at the School of Education

On May 7, the Faculty of Education at the University of Montpellier marked a significant milestone in its history with the inauguration of new facilities at its Mende campus. This major project, costing €1,115,230, was fully funded by the Lozère Departmental Council with support from the French government.

Improved accessibility for people with reduced mobility through the installation of an elevator, increased capacity in certain training rooms, the consolidation of spaces dedicated to student housing, and the bringing of an interior staircase up to fire safety standards… These are just a few of the improvements now available to students, staff, and faculty at the Faculty of Education in Mende. These substantial renovations, funded by the Lozère Departmental Council with support from the government, required an investment of over 1.1 million euros.

Promote personal growth

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier; Philippe Castanet, Prefect of Lozère; Sophie Pantel, President of the Lozère Departmental Council; Agnès Perrin-Doucey, Dean of the Faculty of Education; and Stéphane Amouroux, Associate Dean and Head of the Mende Campus; this event marks the development of an ambitious project that will continue with the construction of a large-capacity room to soon house a learning laboratory.

This facility is essential for meeting a variety of educational needs, such as innovative teaching methods, digital technology, and instruction in music, movement, and voice. Students living on campus will also benefit from additional housing, including five single rooms—one of which is accessible for people with disabilities—as well as eight double rooms. This will help everyone thrive in an environment that fosters a vibrant student life.
