“iTALKs,” the public speaking contest for students at theUM

  • Category: Summary of the Public Speaking Workshop
  • Dates: March 31, 2026
  • Showtimes: at 7:30 p.m.
  • Location: Aimé Schœnig Student Center - Richter Campus, Rue Vendémiaire, Montpellier

TheUM ’s public speaking contest is iTALKs!

A total of 16 people—both women and men—will take the stage to present the results of their work and their perspectives on today’s world in five minutes.

Who? Students from the “UM ” who participated in the iTALKs public speaking workshop, led by Anne-Sophie Leyre, an actress and instructor with the Compagnie de l’Astrolabe, and Sarah Fourage, a playwright and writer.

Theater classes and writing workshops prepared them to take the stage for this public speaking contest. There, they learned how to build a narrative, project their voices, control their body language, and—most importantly—manage their stress!
To each their own style—whether poetic, socially conscious, or offbeat—they’re now ready to share their life stories, their questions, and their passions.

At the end of the evening, three prizes will be awarded:

  • the Grand Jury Prize;
  • the jury's favorite;
  • the People's Choice Award.

A festive evening that proves that (the much-dreaded) public speaking can actually be enjoyable.
Refreshments will be served during the intermission, and the event will conclude with a time of fellowship.

Registration deadline: Friday, March 27

iTALKs is an event funded by the CVEC (Student and Campus Life Contribution) and organized by the Student Life Office at theUM.
