The Montpellier-Nîmes School of Medicine and the Hérault Association of Women Entrepreneurs (FCE34) are celebrating International Women’s Day
On March 8, 2024, the dean of the University of Montpellier’s School of Medicine and the president of the association “Women Entrepreneurs of the Hérault” are joining forces to invite everyone to celebrate International Women’s Day. The conference will highlight the journeys of several women with extraordinary backgrounds.

Woman or a path of exceptions—which shapes the other?
- Gwenaëlle Gervalais, a content writer, editorial consultant, and member of FCE34, will host a talk starting at 7:30 p.m. for journalists and students at the University of Montpellier on the journeys of exceptional women, followed by readings.
- Caroline Fabre Rousseau, a novelist, will shed light on the life of Glafira Ziegelmann—the first female medical resident and the first woman to be nominated for a professorship in medicine at Montpellier—accompanied by Vlada Liashchenko, a third-year medical student.
- Sandrine Bignoli, a saddle-making artisan, founder of Atelier Sellerie Générale, and president of the Hérault chapter of the FCE, has found new markets to offset the seasonal nature of her core business
- Agathe Boidin, President of Pacific Pêche, who successfully transitioned from children’s clothing to the fishing market, turned the company around and expanded it, drawing on her expertise in retail.
- Astrid Herrero, Assistant Professor of Digestive Surgery at Montpellier University Hospital, specializes in liver transplantation and has launched an innovative and unique educational program designed to prepare students for the operating room.
- Stéphanie Nougaret, Associate Professor of Medical Imaging and recipient of a grant from the European Research Council, which will enable her to establish and fund a new research team at the Montpellier Cancer Institute, combining medical imaging and artificial intelligence for the early and optimized detection of gynecological cancers.
- Gérald Chanques, an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Montpellier University Hospital and associate dean for general affairs, assets, and campus life at the Montpellier-Nîmes Faculty of Medicine, and Simon de Charentenay, an attorney, associate professor, and founder of Axiocap, agreed to join them and take part in a discussion.
