"La mémoire des murs" a photographic and poetic investigation by Marc Dantan

From July 11 to August 27, 2023, you can admire the exhibition "la mémoire des murs" by artist Marc Dantan, with free admission. The exhibition is on display at the Orangerie du Jardin des Plantes of the University of Montpellier, Tuesday to Sunday, 1pm to 6pm.

The exhibition in a nutshell

The University of Montpellier boasts a number of remarkable buildings, some of which are protected as historic monuments, linked to its teaching and research activities in a wide range of scientific fields, including the historic Faculty of Medicine building, the Botany Institute and the Biology Institute.

With a view to documenting these buildings, particularly those undergoing restoration and renovation, Marc Dantan was commissioned to take photographs in 2022. It turns out that these photographs, far from having a purely memorial purpose, provide a poetic viewpoint on spaces that are little-known to the general public. The exhibition invites visitors to share this sensitive experience at the Orangerie du Jardin des Plantes, itself an emblematic building of the University of Montpellier, listed as a historic monument.
