The DeepTech Tour in Montpellier
On September 13, 2023, Bpifrance selected the University of Montpellier as the first stop on its 2023 DeepTech Tour. This tour is part of the government’s DeepTech plan, managed by Bpifrance, which aims to help 500 startups emerge from research laboratories each year and become the technology leaders of tomorrow. UM is the first of the 29 universities with PUI status to host this event.

“We are delighted that this launch is taking place at the University of Montpellier; it demonstrates the strong commitment BPI Francehas to the Montpellier campus and its role as a leader in the University Innovation Cluster,” said Philippe Combette, vice president for partnerships and innovation at UM.
About 250 people gathered at the Jardin des Plantes, including researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and innovation stakeholders. The event was attended by Philippe Augé, president of the University of Montpellier; Paul-François Fournier, Director of Innovation at BPI France; partners from the Montpellier PUI who presented their support solutions; the team from the Initium incubator, who came to present their PEPITE DeepTech program; and project leaders, such as Jullien Drone, winner of the 2023 Innovation Award, who shared their stories.
