On this occasion, Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, participated in the launch of a new building dedicated to education, research, and technology transfer in the field of viticulture and winemaking. The building, located on the Gaillarde campus, aims to enhance the profile of the viticulture and winemaking sector by creating a unique and innovative center of excellence. It will bring together the viticulture and wine division of the Institut Agro and the “Sciences for Oenology” (UMR SPO) research team, as well as industry partners. The 6,000 m² building will house 100 scientists, 300 students, and more than 120 industry partners within this facility dedicated to research, education, and innovation.
This innovative project aligns with the main objectives of the university innovation cluster, which are to promote Research and technology transfer. It represents a new opportunity for the region to “showcase the prominent role of wine and viticulture in Montpellier and the surrounding area,” said Philippe Augé, president of the University of Montpellier, at the SITEVI research and innovation booth.
