Legion of Honor and National Order of Merit at UM

By decree of the President of the Republic dated December 31, 2020, eleven personalities - from the ranks of the University of Montpellier or its partners - are included in the promotion of the Legion of Honor and the National Order of Merit. The University congratulates them all.

The recipients of the Légion d'honneur are :

  • Yves Martin-Prével, epidemiologist, Director of Research at the Institut de recherche et développement (IRD).
  • François Pierrot, Director of Research at CNRS, Deputy Vice-President of the University of Montpellier.
  • Nicolas Best, General Manager, CHU de Nîmes
  • Hubert Blain, PU-PH, Head of the Gerontology Unit at Montpellier University Hospital
  • Xavier Capdevila, head of the intensive care department at Montpellier University Hospital
  • Thomas Le Ludec, General Manager, Montpellier University Hospital
  • Jacques Reynes, PU-PH, Coordinator of the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases at Montpellier University Hospital
  • Patrice Taourel, PU-PH, Head of Radiology Department, Montpellier University Hospital
  • François Vialla, Professor of Private Law and Criminal Sciences, Director of the Centre Européen d'Études et de Recherche Droit et Santé, member of the Haut Conseil de Santé Publique.

Other personalities close to the UM have been named to the National Order of Merit. They include

  • Jean-Claude Gayssot, former Minister and Member of Parliament, and Chairman of the Van Allen Foundation, has been awarded the rank of Commander by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition.
  • Jean-Emmanuel de la Coussaye, PU-PH, Head of the Emergency Department at Nîmes University Hospital, is appointed to the rank of Officer.
