OREME mini-conferences at the University of Montpellier
The Montpellier Environment Research Observatory (OREME) is offering a series of short, multidisciplinary lectures aimed at raising awareness and promoting discussion on the issue of climate change. OREME's short lectures are open to the public and focus on environmental, earth, and planetary sciences. On Monday, June 26, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Triolet campus, the University of Montpellier will host a lecture entitled "A society built on sand: digital technology, an immateriality that has an impact." It will be presented by Didier Mallarino, a research engineer at the CNRS.

Urgent action is needed to ensure that our planet remains habitable.Didier Mallarino, a research engineer and computer scientist affiliated with the CNRS, is encouraging socio-economic actors to join him in mitigating the impact of technology on our environment, notably by participating in the drafting ofthe Guide to Responsible Digital Practices for Organizations.
On Monday, June 26, he will share his knowledge with the scientific community and the general public to take a step back, identify environmental and societal impacts together, and raise awareness of the various obstacles encountered in order to avoid taking counterproductive measures.
