ISEM and the University of Montpellier in "L'Odyssée des animaux" on Arte

From Monday September 26 to Friday September 30, ARTE will be broadcasting the documentary series "L'Odyssée des animaux" (Animal Odyssey), filmed with doctoral students and ISEM scientific executives. Join us every evening at 7pm to make sure you don't miss any of the five episodes filmed in the Amazon, in Occitania and on the Triolet Campus of the University of Montpellier.

What's this documentary series about?

The North American bear, the Eurasian horse, the Australian kangaroo, the South American monkey, the African elephant: each of the five episodes in the Animal Odyssey series will retrace the incredible metamorphoses and unprecedented journeys of these five species, which have now become emblems of their continent. Their story begins 66 million years ago, when a series of global events led to the virtual disappearance of the dinosaurs. This marked the beginning of another reign, the rise of the mammals, which is retraced in Animal Odyssey.

ISEM in a nutshell :

The Institut des sciences de l'évolution de Montpellier (ISEM) is a research laboratory dedicated to the origin and dynamics of biodiversity, and to the methods and mechanisms of its evolution. It is under the supervision of the UM (University of Montpellier), the CNRS (Centre National de la Research Scientifique), the IRD (Institut de Research pour le Développement), the CIRAD (Centre de Coopération Internationale en Research Agronomique pour le Développement), the INRAP (Institut National de Recherches Archéologiques Préventives) and the EPHE (Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes). ISEM researchers work on both current and past biodiversity, and are interested in a wide range of organisms and environments, combining field, experimental and theoretical approaches. This fundamental research is combined with applied and predictive research into a major scientific and societal issue of the 21st century, in interaction with the human sciences, medicine and society: how can biodiversity respond to global change?
