The University of Montpellier takes stock of its GHG emissions

On September 24, the University of Montpellier officially launched its Greenhouse Gas Emissions Assessment (BEGES). This event brought together around 100 people at the Institute of Botany, including the president, vice presidents, and directors of training, research, and administrative departments.

On the agenda: a presentation by the consulting firm NEPSEN on the assessment method used and the various sources of direct and indirect emissions that will be analyzed to provide its initial assessment to the UM. A discussion session also provided an opportunity to answer questions from the various participants and, in particular, to clarify the scope and operational schedule for collecting the data needed to carry out the assessment.

Planned as part of the UM's Ecological Transition Master Plan, the BEGES will enable the university to target the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions and set quantified targets for significantly reducing these emissions.
The University of Montpellier's commitment to this initiative is part of a global effort to combat climate change, promote environmental responsibility, and set an example in line with the values promoted by the UM.
