The University of Montpellier Releases Its GHG Report

On September 24, the University of Montpellier officially launched the development of its Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report (BEGES). The event, held at the Institute of Botany, brought together the president, vice presidents, and directors of the university’s academic, research, and administrative units—a total of about 100 people.

On the agenda: a presentation by the consulting firm NEPSEN on the assessment method used and the various sources of emissions—both direct and indirect—that will be analyzed to provide the UM with its initial assessment. A Q&A session also provided an opportunity to answer questions from the participants and, in particular, to clarify the scope and timeline for collecting the data needed to carry out the assessment.

As outlined in the University of Montpellier’s Ecological Transition Master Plan, the BEGES will enable the university to identify the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions and set quantifiable targets to significantly reduce these emissions.
The University of Montpellier’s commitment to this initiative is part of a broader effort to combat climate change, promote environmental responsibility, and set an example in line with the values that UM upholds.
